Excellence is achieved by the mastery of the fundamentals. Truth never triumphs, its opponents just die out. The secret of success is constancy of purpose. There will come a time when you believe everything is finished - that will be the beginning. It's a very funny thing about life; if you refuse to accept anything but the best, you very often get it. Nature never breaks her own laws. It's not that I'm so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer. The important thing is not to stop questioning. Art is never finished, only abandoned. He who wishes to be rich in a day will be hanged in a year. A heretic is a man who sees with his own eyes. It is not necessary to change, survival is not mandatory. The truth of things is the chief nutriment of superior intellects. The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is a habit. Wisdom begins in wonder. Without music, life would be a mistake. Don't follow the crowd. The worst of all deceptions is self-deception. If you are going through hell, keep going. Whatever you are, be a good one. Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. What would you attempt to do if you know you could not fail? There are no shortcuts to any place worth going. Nothing is more expensive than a missed opportunity. Opportunities are never lost; someone will take the one you miss. It's kind of fun to do the impossible. Expect nothing; be prepared for anything. When the student is ready, the master appears. If I stick a finger in your eye then you have the finger in the eye and I have the finger in the eye, but that's not the same. It takes two to lie - one to lie and one to listen. How many legs does a dog have if you call the tail a leg? Four. Calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg. A lie has speed, but truth has endurance. Peace if possible, truth at all costs. An honest answer is the sign of true friendship. You have to perform at a consistently higher level than others. That's the mark of a true professional. Never give up on a dream due to the time it will take to achieve it. The time will pass anyway. It doesn't matter how beautiful your theory is, it doesn't matter how smart you are. If it doesn't agree with experiment, it's wrong. To solve a problem or to reach a goal, you don't need to know all the answers in advance. But you must have a clear idea of the problem or the goal you want to reach. Be absolutely clear about who you are and what you stand for. Refuse to compromise. You don't drown by falling in water; you only drown if you stay there. Successful men and women keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don't quit. I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is another step forward. The only way to discover the limits of the possible is to go beyond them into the impossible. Believe nothing unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense. The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person's determination. A failure establishes only that our determination to succeed was not strong enough. Don't be discouraged. It's often the last key in the bunch that opens the lock. The noblest pleasure is the joy of understanding. I may not be there yet, but I'm closer than I was yesterday. Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go. Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals. If you cannot win, make the one ahead of you break the record. Key to survival is staying one step ahead. First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win. Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups. Happiness is a journey, not a destination. Every passion has it's destiny. You can close your eyes to reality but not to memories. Great are only great to us because we are on our knees, let us arise. You climb to reach the summit, but once there, discover that all roads lead down. The first condition of immortality is death. Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character. The last of the human freedoms is to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances.
